When movies have racial terms thrown out a lot, such as the "n" word, I tend to get turned off by them. Though I don't think it that racist, or at least enough that would stop me from enjoying the movie. Why? What makes Chambers more skilled than Bone? He a good fighter even before his training but I don't see anything he had done pre or post training that Bone hasn't already enough. And because of that, I'm totally rooting for Boyka. If Bone went in with Chambers' skills post his final fight, I think he would have won a lot quicker. The guy who is capable of studying his opponent and figures out weaknesses in their form, within seconds might I add, is less skilled than a guy who never done anything on that caliber? So the guy who grapples, and breaks bones/dislocates joints on the regular is less skilled than a someone who had just learned to do so and struggled to do the same? Don't get me wrong, the choreography was fine, but the execution was too plain. I'd argue that his skills were less than comparable to Chambers. His "moves" may have seemed slow to the viewer but the character himself is portrayed to be very fast within the movie. When has Boyka done anything like that in both movies he was in? He one-shots four guys before any of them could even react. Even if they haven't trained they were still experienced street fighters comparable to the fodder that Boyka trains with in the first movie as well.Īnd when has Chambers or Boyka for this matter done this or anything comparable to this speed? He was roided up just as much as Dolor was and was even too fast for his first opponent in the movie. Hammerman was the undisputed champion on the streets and even tanked punches to the point where his opponents felt pain just from punching him while he felt nothing. The first guy he went up against was practicing kicks right before his match with Bone, the boxer he later goes up against was the best fighter out of the entire crew and was hyped to very good fighter against most if not all the other street fighters that faced him. His opponents have shown that they have been trained. In fact, he's slower as Bone than any other character he's portrayed, and in the movie, fought against random street thugs who had little to no training (save for Matt Mullins). Though I don't think it that racist, or at least enough that would stop me from enjoying the movie.Īnd though I enjoy Michael Jai White, Blood & Bone wasn't exactly the highlight of his abilities. I found the movie slightly racist and stereotypical for the type of movie it was.įair enough.
